Outcry in Pakistan due to suicide attack in Islamabad, at least 32 killed

Islamabad. There is an outcry in the south-eastern area of ​​Pakistan’s capital Islamabad due to the suicide attack during Friday prayers. The attacker blew himself inside the Imambara. At least 32 people were killed and 169 others were injured in the attack. Two brothers of this attacker and a woman from the family have been detained. The President and the Prime Minister have expressed deep condolence over the blast.

According to Geo News report, witnesses said that the suicide bomber blew himself up at the gate of Imambara Khadija al-Kubra in Islamabad’s Tarlai area. There were other attackers along with him. The attackers opened fire before the explosion. Eyewitnesses said that the guards tried to stop the attackers at the Imambara main gate. After this the firing started. During this time, an attacker entered at least 20 meters inside the Imambara and blew himself up. During this time there was a scream due to the explosion. At least 32 people died in the attack.

Islamabad District Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said no group immediately claimed responsibility for the suicide attack. According to intelligence agencies officials, the suicide bomber has been identified as 32-year-old Yasir, a resident of Peshawar. His house was raided and two brothers and a woman were detained. All three are being interrogated. Officials said the attacker had been living in Afghanistan for the last five months. There he received training in the use of weapons and suicide bombing. A search operation is going on in Peshawar and Nowshera to trace the helpers of the suicide bomber. Investigation into different aspects of the attack is ongoing.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has blamed India and Afghanistan for this federal attack. Expressing strong objection to this, India has completely rejected the allegation. Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said that the injured were being treated in hospitals. Of these, the condition of 25 is critical. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep grief over the blast and expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. President Zardari said that targeting innocent people is a crime against humanity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the suicide attack in Imambara. He expressed deep sorrow and grief over the deaths and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. The Prime Minister spoke to Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi and directed that the culprits be identified and brought to justice immediately. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that she was deeply saddened by the blast at Imambara in Islamabad.
