Bengaluru: Avram Glazer, co-owner of English football club Manchester United, has reportedly entered the race to acquire the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise.
RCB, the reigning IPL and WPL champions, was put up for sale by its parent company Diageo in November. The development came months after the team won its maiden IPL title.
According to reports, Glazer has submitted a bid through his investment firm Lancer Capital. His offer is said to be valued at $1.8 billion. A total of nine bids have reportedly been received for the franchise.
Avram Glazer is the son of late American billionaire Malcolm Glazer. He serves as executive co-chairman and director of Manchester United. Lancer Capital, linked to the Glazer family, also owns the Desert Vipers franchise in the ILT20 league.
The sale process is currently underway, and further updates are awaited.
