Punjab is known for its sports culture and is once again buzzing with the enthusiasm of football. As part of TV9 Network's News 9 Indian Tigers & Tigresses Season 2 in collaboration with Bundesliga, our team reached Mahilpur village in Hoshiarpur and tested the talent of young footballers.

There were long queues on the grounds of Mahilpur since morning. Hundreds of children had reached here from all the 23 districts of Punjab, where both boys and girls showed tremendous enthusiasm. The dream of playing for the country was clearly visible in the eyes of the children. In these trials organized in collaboration with TV9 Network and Punjab Government, separate sessions were held for boys and girls, so that everyone can get equal opportunity and can showcase their potential.

Young players told that for the first time they have got such a big and professional platform, where they can showcase their talent. A child said, 'We are very happy that TV9 came to our village for trials. We have got such a platform for the first time. When such trials happen, our enthusiasm increases further. Now it seems that we can also move forward.

The coaches accompanying the children also appreciated this initiative. He said that in today's era, children are busy with mobile phones, but the increasing interest in football is a positive change. TV9 Network's News9 Indian Tigers & Tigresses Season 2, in association with the Bundesliga, aims to identify the best footballers at the grassroots level and provide them international level training.

So many players were selected in season 1

In Season 1, 12 girls and 16 boys were selected under this program after trials across the country. These young players have toured Austria and Germany with three Indian coaches. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a historic farewell to these young footballers at the What India Thinks Today 2025 (WITT 2025) Global Summit organized at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi in March 2025. Dignitaries from India and abroad participated in this summit organized by TV9 Network. After the Europe tour, these young players were welcomed at the Austrian Embassy by Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Austrian Ambassador to India Katharina Weiser.
