Photos circulating on social media show Chu, now 60, aboard what appeared to be a ship in China on Feb. 5. She was dressed casually in a loose-fitting T-shirt, with her hair tied back in a ponytail and a face mask covering her face. Despite her low-key attire, Chu was carrying a Chanel handbag valued at HK$50,000 (US$6,400), remaining easily recognizable to those who encountered her, according to The Star.

Onlookers remarked that Chu appeared youthful, with some saying she had a clear, wrinkle-free complexion despite her age, Malaysian outlet Hype reported.

Chu and Lau, 65, registered their marriage in 2008 after dating for several years. The couple is known for guarding their privacy and has rarely appeared together in public, with their joint appearances limited to funerals of close family members or colleagues only. They share a 14-year-old daughter.

Lau has reportedly invested 100 million Malaysian ringgit (US$25.3 million) in a private jet to avoid paparazzi attention during Chu’s annual trips to her hometown of Penang, Malaysia. He is also said to have hired four bodyguards and three nannies to assist with the daily needs of his wife and daughter.

Chu is reported to come from a wealthy family in Malaysia.

Lau, the fourth of six siblings, enrolled in TVB’s acting training program in 1980, marking the start of his career. He rose to prominence through television dramas such as “The Return of the Condor Heroes” and “The Duke of Mount Deer,” before transitioning to film in the 1990s. He later became one of Hong Kong’s famed “Four Heavenly Kings,” alongside Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok, and Leon Lai.

Earlier this month, the couple made headlines after Tiffany Chen, the wife of Hong Kong entertainment tycoon Charles Heung, spoke about Chu’s sacrifices during her relationship with Lau.
