Jesy Nelson's ex-fiancé Zion Foster has opened up about his relationship with the pop star, revealing there was a period when he desperately wanted to "fight" for her.

The former pair crossed paths in 2022 and became parents to twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe in May 2025.

Just four months after their little ones arrived, Zion popped the question to his then-partner, though their engagement proved fleeting.

Earlier this week, the 34-year-old songstress announced she had parted ways with her long-term beau following their recent "traumatic experience".

The couple have faced an incredibly difficult chapter after their twins were diagnosed with SMA1 (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), a rare genetic condition causing muscle weakness that can be fatal without early detection, reports OK!.

Their relationship journey is explored in Jesy's forthcoming docuseries, Life After Little Mix, which was filmed throughout her challenging pregnancy.

In the second episode, set to drop on February 13, Zion reflects on their first meeting.

He explained: "One of my good friends, he was dating Jesy's best friend. They went on a night out and he said 'Oh, hey do you wanna come out?'"

Zion was instantly struck by the reality of Jesy's celebrity status upon their first encounter.

"The first time I ever saw Jess was literally like, paps just walking down the street [flashing cameras at her]. I was like 'Oh my god what's going on?' because that's not my world," he admitted.

The Londoner confessed he was initially "quite starstruck." But after being catapulted into the celebrity spotlight, Zion soon realised how distorted the public's view of Jesy truly was.

In a heartfelt confession, he shared: "Her heart is so pure. When I saw how that was being manipulated in the media and in public perception, I was thinking 'The way she's being painted out to be is not who she is.'"

He added: "The reality was, I knew it was wrong. So, it made me want to fight for her."

Jesy also opens up about their romance in the new documentary series, which runs across six episodes.

However, it's not solely her role as a partner and mum that features prominently - the programme also explores her time in Little Mix and what prompted her departure from the much-loved girl band.

Viewers will also hear testimonies from Jesy's nearest and dearest, who share their insights on everything from her private battles during The X Factor days to the criticism she's faced throughout her career.

Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix premieres on Prime Video on February 13.
