Indian equity benchmarks closed higher in a volatile session on February 6with buying interest seen in select heavyweight stocks. The Sensex ended up 266.47 points (0.32%) at 83,580.40while the Nifty 50 gained 50.90 points (0.20%) to settle at 25,693.70staying close to the 25,700 mark.
Among individual stocks, ITC emerged as the top gainer of the session, closing 5.2% higher at ₹326.4supported by strong intraday buying. Kotak Mahindra Bank followed with a 3.3% riseending the day at ₹422.4contributing meaningfully to index gains.
Consumer-focused heavyweight Hindustan Unilever closed 2.8% higher at ₹2,421while Bajaj Finance advanced 1.8% to finish at ₹982. Telecom major Bharti Airtel gained 1.5%settling at ₹2,023adding to the positive tone in the market.
In the utilities space, Power Grid Corporation ended 1.2% higher at ₹292.8. Titan rose 1.1% to ₹4,140.8while Bajaj Finserv closed up 1.0% at ₹2,020.8.
Financial stocks also saw selective buying, with Shriram Finance ending 0.9% higher at ₹1,001and Axis Bank closing 0.9% up at ₹1,341.9.
