The University Grants Commission (UGC) itself is offering many free courses on the portal. In which some are to tourism and some to environment and religion. Candidates can choose anyone as per their choice. There is no fee of any kind for enrollment and studies.
Talking about the Swayam portal, it is a free online education platform run by the ministry. On which not only UGC but also Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Management and many other reputed institutes offer courses to various subjects. These include courses from certificate to post graduation level. To join these courses, only registration is required.
You will also get a certificate
If a candidate wants to get the certificate then he/she will have to appear in an examination. Which is organized by the National Testing Agency in computer based test mode. Some multiple choice questions are asked in this. Prescribed fees also have to be paid for the certificate examination. 30 marks depend on internal assessment and 70 marks on examination. Candidates also have to register to appear in the examination.
Note important dates
The 8 courses included in this list have started from January 15 itself. Only one course “Community Engagement and Social Responsibility” will start from February 19. Candidates can apply online till 28 February 2026 through official website You can register by going to. The examination will be conducted between June 20 and 21. The duration of most courses is 15 weeks. They are scheduled to expire on April 30, 2026.
