
kuala lumpur7 February. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian community in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. Emphasizing the depth of India-Malaysia relations, he said India’s success is linked to Malaysia’s progress and in turn the development of Asia.
PM Modi said in his address, ‘Malaysia has the second largest community of people of Indian origin in the world. It connects the hearts of India and Malaysia. The exhibition that PM Anwar Ibrahim and I saw shows this connection beautifully. You are a living bridge that connects us.
Before this, PM Modi reached Malaysia on a two-day visit. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed PM Modi at Kuala Lumpur Airport. After this, both the leaders left for the venue together in the same car. A large number of Indian community reached Kuala Lumpur to welcome PM Modi. During this, about 800 people performed classical and folk dance to welcome PM Modi.
After this PM Modi started his address. As soon as the Prime Minister reached the stage to start his address, chants of ‘Modi-Modi’ started. People welcomed the PM with full enthusiasm by clapping.
Prime Minister Modi highly praised Tamil language and culture. He said, ‘Tamil people have served humanity with their talent. I say with pride that Vice President of India Thiru CP Radhakrishnan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who has presented our country’s budget 9 times, and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Murugan Loganathan Murugan all come from Tamil Nadu.
PM Modi said, ‘PM Anwar Ibrahim and I have been friends even before he became PM, last year I could not come for the ASEAN Summit, but I had promised my friend that I will come to Malaysia soon. And as promised, here I am. This is my first foreign trip in 2026. I am very happy to be with you during these festive times.
The Prime Minister said, ‘You know that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim sings very well, but many Indians do not know this. Indians were quite surprised during Malaysian PM’s visit to India. A video of his song went viral, in which he was singing an old Bollywood song. He also likes MGR’s Tamil songs very much. As soon as he said this, PM Anwar also laughed.
PM Modi said, “On this occasion, I also salute the efforts of Netaji Service Center and Netaji Welfare Foundation in Malaysia. It is really amazing that you have maintained Indian traditions for centuries. Recently, I had talked about your work in ‘Mann Ki Baat’. I had said that there are more than 500 schools in Malaysia, which provide education in Indian languages.”

At the same time, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said, ‘Today we can feel the enthusiasm and love not only of the dancers but also of all the people present there. How our two friends, two great countries and I and you, Prime Minister Modi. It’s really an honour. As I told you in the car, I am personally very excited, very thankful, very grateful that a very good friend of mine, a very good friend from India is joining us in Malaysia.
Prime Minister Ibrahim said, ‘PM Modi, I have seen your struggles, your political difficulties, and I must say, I am lucky that I am a very good personal friend of Modi ji of India.’
