Pokémon, the globally beloved Japanese media franchise, has taken a giant leap into real-world entertainment with the opening of the first-ever Pokémon-themed amusement park in Japan.

Named PokéPark Kanto, the park officially opened its doors in Tokyo on Thursday, attracting large crowds eager to explore the immersive experience. The park is located within Yomiuriland and spans an impressive 2,600 square meters, featuring two distinct zones for visitors.

The first area is a forest trail where fans can walk past over 600 life-sized Pokémon statues. However, access to this zone requires climbing 110 steps without assistance, adding a touch of adventure to the experience.

The second zone is designed around interactive games, food outlets, live stage shows, and exclusive merchandise, giving visitors a complete Pokémon adventure beyond just sightseeing.

While Pokémon-themed attractions have existed before, they were temporary setups. For instance, Pokémon The Park in Nagoya ran from March to September 2005. Other pop-up attractions included Pokémon Island Adventure at Australia’s Warner Bros. Movie World in 1999 and a later recreation in Taiwan.

With PokéPark Kanto, Pokémon enthusiasts now have a permanent destination to experience their favorite creatures in a life-size, interactive environment, marking a milestone for the franchise and theme park entertainment globally.
