ENG vs NEP Highlights: Nepal missed the upset in the World Cup, England won the match by four runs with Curan’s decisive over.

New Delhi . In the fifth match of T20 World Cup 2026, an exciting clash was seen between England and Nepal on the Wankhede pitch. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, England scored 184 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs with the help of half-centuries from Jacob Bethel and captain Harry Brook. In reply, Nepal’s team made a good start and kept the result of the match exciting till the last over, but in front of the tight bowling of Sam Curran, Nepal could score only 180 runs and England won by four runs.

England’s innings:
England had a slow start, but Jacob Bethel (55) and captain Harry Brook (53) played aggressive innings in the middle order and took the team to a strong score. Bethel scored a half-century in 35 balls with the help of four fours and four sixes on his T20 World Cup debut. Whereas Brook hit three fours and four sixes in 32 balls. Both of them put England in a strong position by making an important partnership of 71 runs for the fourth wicket.

From Nepal’s side, Sher Malla got the first success by catching Phil Salt (1) out on the very first ball of his second over. After this, Nandan Yadav got Jos Buttler (26) caught by the wicketkeeper. Spinner Sandeep Lamichhane gave out Tom Banton LBW in the seventh over. After this, Bethel and Brook took over the innings and England added 45 runs in the last three overs to score 184.
Will Jacques led the team quickly by scoring 39* runs in 18 balls. For Nepal, Deependra Singh Airi (2/23) and Nandan Yadav (2/25) took two wickets each, while Sher Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane were also among the wicket-takers.

Nepal’s innings:
Nepal made a fast start. Kushal Bhurtel showed aggressive style by scoring 29 runs in 17 balls, but he was caught by Will Jacques in the sixth over. After this, captain Rohit Paudel (39) and Deependra Singh Airi (39) made an important partnership of 82 runs for the third wicket and took the team to the threshold of victory.

In the 14th over, Rohit Paudel hit a brilliant six and a four through a cover drive on Rashid Khan, while also playing a perfect switch-hit. But after the drinks break, Nepal’s rhythm broke. In the 15th over, Deependra Singh played a wrong shot on the ball of Ari Sam Curran, and shortly afterwards Rohit Paudel was caught out on the ball of Liam Dawson.

In the last overs, Lokesh Bam scored unbeaten 39 runs in 20 balls and brought Nepal closer to victory. In the 18th over, he hit two sixes on Joffra Archer and in the 19th over, he hit two fours on Luke Wood. Nepal needed 10 runs in the last over, but Sam Curran’s accurate yorker dashed Nepal’s hopes and Nepal was reduced to 180/6.
