EPFO News: The EPFO will launch a new mobile app in April, allowing members to withdraw PF funds directly into their bank accounts via UPI. This feature will make the withdrawal process faster and easier. Members will be able to view their eligible balances on the app and make secure transactions using their UPI PIN.
EPFO News: The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is set to give its millions of members the latest digital banking gift in the New Year. Withdrawing PF funds will now be as easy as sending money to someone via Google Pay or PhonePe. The EPFO is preparing to launch a new mobile app that will allow members to transfer funds directly to their bank accounts using UPI (Unified Payments Interface).
Services may launch by April 2026.
According to Labor Ministry sources, work on this ambitious project is in its final stages. It is expected that this new dedicated app will be officially launched by April 2026. Currently, the EPFO is testing this technology to ensure complete security for transactions.
How will this new feature work?
The PF withdrawal process will completely change after the launch of the new app.
Funds will be divided into two parts: Under the ministry's plan, a fixed portion of the EPF amount will be kept reserved for retirement, while the remaining larger amount will be available for withdrawal as per the members' needs.
Payments will be made through UPI PIN.: Members will be able to view their eligible withdrawal amount on the app. To withdraw, they simply need to enter the UPI PIN of their linked bank account, and the money will be instantly credited to their account.
Other services: In addition to withdrawals, passbook checking, balance checking, and other KYC-related tasks can also be easily performed on this app.
What will happen to existing channels?
Currently, members access their PF accounts through the UAN portal or the UMANG app. Both platforms will continue to function even after the new app is launched. However, the new dedicated app, specifically designed for EPFO subscribers, will be much faster and simpler than the old platforms. Experts believe this move will not only curb corruption and middlemen, but also save employees from having to wait weeks to receive funds in an emergency.
