Raipur: The government has taken an important initiative with the aim of making Chhattisgarh a leading state of the country in the field of knowledge, technology and innovation. An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the state Electronics and Information Technology Department and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) today at the residence office of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. The objective of this agreement is to provide world-class opportunities to the youth and startups of the state.

This MoU has the potential to take the startup ecosystem in Chhattisgarh to new heights. Under this, a ‘Center of Entrepreneurship’ (CoE) and an ‘Electronics System Design and Development’ (ESDD) center will be established in the state, which will promote technological innovation and entrepreneurship.

How will youth and startups benefit?

Both the centers to be established under this partnership will play an important role in changing the technological landscape of the state. The proposed Center of Entrepreneurship (CoE) will focus on four key areas – Artificial Intelligence (AI), medtech based on forest and medicinal products, smart city solutions and smart agriculture. Startups working in these areas will be provided encouragement and support.

Along with this, a state-of-the-art Electronics System Design and Development (ESDD) center will also be established. This center will provide vital facilities like product design, prototyping, skill development and capacity building to about 30 to 40 hardware startups and MSMEs every year. This will boost hardware manufacturing and innovation at the local level.

Aim to give new identity to Chhattisgarh

On this occasion, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that the government wants to give the state a unique identity in the field of knowledge and technology apart from natural resources. He described the cooperation of STPI as important.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the vast experience of STPI, which has 68 centers across the country and 24 sector-specific Centers of Entrepreneurship, will strengthen the startup and innovation ecosystem of Chhattisgarh. He said that due to modern infrastructure, effective e-governance and investment-friendly policies, Chhattisgarh is today becoming an attractive destination for industries based on IT and emerging technologies.
