Valentine’s Day Every year the season of love blooms as soon as it arrives, but this time its language has changed a bit. Recently, Pepsi UK and Thursday have jointly launched a new Valentine’s Day campaign, where Gen Z is seen reiterating the old adage of love, which is called relationship-sipping.

This trend says that it is more important to feel relationships than to show them. Love no longer wants to be a status update, but a personal moment between two people. Where now Gen Z does not need expensive gifts.

After all, what is relationship-sipping?

To put it in simple words, relationship-sipping is like living the relationship moment by moment. Without show, without noise. Remembering your partner’s preferences, sending a sweet message after a long conversation, looking at old photos together – these small things create the real sweetness of a relationship. This thinking says that love is not a performance on stage, but everyday tenderness.

What does the research say?

Recently released surveys show that Gen Z is now moving away from grand, camera-friendly gestures. They want a personal touch – something that is just for their relationship, not for the whole world to like. That means less publicity of love, more private connection. About 77% youngsters are now preferring small, sweet and heartfelt gestures instead of big, filmy and over-the-top gestures. About 31% admitted that they want to stay away from the standard Valentine’s Day rituals like social media posts, flowers and teddies, expensive dates or public proposals. 37% found these gestures too intense, 32% called them fake, 26% considered them inauthentic and 20% did not find them personal at all.

Why is this change necessary?

Big gestures often increase the pressure of expectations. Whereas small efforts increase affection. As I see and understand you. This Valentine, perhaps the best gift may not be an expensive box, but the moment that both of you sit together and share quietly. Love, after all, is not made of grandeur – of niceties.
