Schools Evacuated as Precautionary Measure

As soon as the emails surfaced, school administrations declared an emergency holiday and began sending students home under supervision. Parents were informed through official communication channels and assured that precautionary measures were being followed strictly. Police teams reached the campuses shortly after the alerts were reported.

Among the institutions that received the threatening emails were Yadavindra Public School, Learning Paths School, Manav Mangal School, Shivalik Public School, Paragon Senior Secondary School, and Infinite Jesus School. Authorities indicated that several other private institutions in the district also received similar messages.

Intensive Search Operations Underway

Bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage teams were immediately deployed to conduct detailed inspections of classrooms, administrative blocks, playgrounds, and parking areas. Senior police officials confirmed that nearly 300 personnel were engaged in coordinated search efforts throughout the day.

Mohali’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Harmandeep Singh Hans, told reporters that the situation was being handled with utmost seriousness. He noted that additional anti-sabotage teams had been requested from neighboring districts, including Fatehgarh Sahib and Rupnagar, to support the ongoing operations. According to police, every targeted school was evacuated before the search began to ensure student safety.

Preliminary findings suggest that some of the threatening emails were dated February 11, while others were marked February 13. Investigators are now working to trace the origin of the messages and determine whether they were sent from within the state or from outside locations using masked identities.

Education Department and Administration Step In

Officials from the district administration and the Education Department also visited the affected schools to oversee safety procedures. School managements were instructed to suspend classes temporarily and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies.

Mohali District Education Officer Dr. Ginni Duggal confirmed that, as of now, no government-run school in the district has reported receiving any such threat. She added that the matter was immediately escalated to Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and senior police authorities for swift coordination.

Authorities have advised parents not to panic and to rely only on official updates. Police have also appealed to the public to refrain from circulating unverified information on social media, which could cause unnecessary anxiety.

Pattern of Similar Threats in the Region

The incident in Mohali comes shortly after similar email threats were reported in educational institutions across cities including Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, and parts of Haryana. In those cases, extensive searches were carried out, and all threats were eventually declared hoaxes.

While no explosives have been found in the current case, law enforcement agencies are treating the matter seriously due to the repeated nature of such incidents. Cybercrime experts are assisting in tracking digital footprints linked to the emails.

Police officials emphasized that any individual found responsible for spreading false threats would face strict legal action under relevant sections of the law. Security around schools in Mohali has been temporarily strengthened, and patrol units have been placed on standby.

The situation remains under close watch as investigations continue. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring student safety and maintaining public order while identifying those behind the threatening messages.
