Immediate Closures and Student Evacuations

School administrations acted swiftly, announcing a holiday and ensuring students were safely sent home. Parents were informed about the situation and reassured that precautionary measures were being followed in coordination with law enforcement agencies.

Among the institutions that received the threatening emails were Yadavindra Public School (YPS Mohali), Learning Paths School, Manav Mangal School, Shivalik Public School, Paragon Senior Secondary School and Infinite Jesus School. Officials confirmed that all listed campuses were evacuated as a precaution while security teams conducted detailed searches.

Police Launch Extensive Search Operation

Senior police officials said the investigation is focused on tracing the origin of the emails. Security presence around school premises was significantly increased as bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage units carried out systematic inspections.

Mohali’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Harmandeep Singh Hans, told reporters that sixteen schools had received similar emails. He added that nearly 300 police personnel were deployed to assist in search operations and ensure student safety.

To strengthen the response, additional anti-sabotage teams were requested from neighboring districts including Fatehgarh Sahib and Rupnagar. Authorities emphasized that the checks were being conducted with utmost caution to rule out any potential threat.

Education Department Coordinates With District Administration

Officials from the Education Department and the district administration also reached the affected schools to monitor the situation. All school managements were instructed to remain closed for the day and cooperate fully with ongoing investigations.

District Education Officer Dr Ginni Duggal confirmed that, so far, no government school in the district had reported receiving similar emails. She said the matter was promptly communicated to Deputy Commissioner of SAS Nagar, Komal Mittal, along with senior police authorities to ensure coordinated action.

Preliminary findings indicate that some of the emails were dated February 11, while others were marked February 13. Investigators are examining digital trails and technical details to determine whether the messages originated from a single source or multiple senders.

Pattern of Similar Incidents in the Region

The incident in Mohali comes shortly after comparable bomb threat emails were reported in schools across Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and parts of Haryana. In those cases, thorough investigations concluded that the threats were hoaxes, but they nonetheless caused significant disruption and anxiety among students and parents.

Security experts note that such threats, even when false, demand immediate and comprehensive responses due to the potential risk involved. Law enforcement agencies are treating the Mohali incident with the same level of seriousness while urging the public to remain calm.

Authorities have reiterated that no explosive devices or suspicious objects have been found during the ongoing searches. However, investigations remain active as cyber teams work to identify those responsible for sending the emails.

Police officials said further updates would be shared once concrete leads emerge. In the meantime, schools are expected to reopen only after receiving clearance from security agencies.
