A gripping crime drama hailed as 'better than Ozark' and ideal viewing for Breaking Bad enthusiasts is set to disappear from Netflix imminently.

Time appears to be running out for all five series of Queen of the South, which look poised to exit the streaming giant's vast catalogue.

This comes less than 12 months after it captured numerous subscribers' interest and drew positive comparisons to the platform's other hard-hitting programmes.

The series chronicles Teresa Mendoza, who resides in the barrio of Jalisco, Mexico. She becomes romantically involved with a member of a prominent drug cartel, hoping it will lift her from the despair that pervades her existence.

When circumstances don't unfold as planned and her partner is killed, she must escape the country.

Finding sanctuary in America, she joins forces with an unexpected figure from her history to bring down the cartel leader hunting her.

Teresa ultimately establishes her own drugs empire, ascending to become amongst the globe's richest women. Yet her prosperity reveals that wealth cannot solve every challenge, and she learns she can rely solely on herself to remain ahead of her adversaries and survive , reports the Mirror.

Those wishing to watch all 62 episodes on Netflix should act swiftly. Viewers have under a month remaining, with the streaming service now listing 8th March as the final viewing date.

Whilst Queen of the South scores lower on Rotten Tomatoes compared to Ozark, both programmes share an identical 86% fan rating.

One reviewer even argued it surpassed its rival, writing: "The Show is better paced and more action packed. Ozark can initially be a little hard to get into. Queen of the South, in contrast, is action-packed and quick-paced from the very beginning."
