Giannis Antetokounmpo has been out of action for several weeks and remains without a definitive return date, leaving Milwaukee Bucks fans anxiously awaiting clarity on the superstar’s status.

While concerns persist about a potentially lengthy absence, Bucks general manager Jon Horst has delivered a more optimistic update on Antetokounmpo’s recovery.

Bucks GM Provides Injury Update on Giannis Antetokounmpo

Antetokounmpo suffered a strained right calf during Milwaukee’s Jan. 23 loss to the Denver Nuggets. Since recognising the injury after that game, the two-time MVP has missed eight contests and is expected to sit out additional games.

Despite initial fears that the calf strain could sideline him for an extended period, recent developments suggest a smoother recovery than first anticipated. Horst confirmed that Antetokounmpo has resumed physical activity with the team, including on-court workouts featuring light running, agility drills, and mobility testing under the supervision of trainers.

Although Horst stopped short of giving a firm return date, the Bucks are targeting a window of two to three weeks from the time of the report — roughly between Feb. 25 and March 4.

“He’s doing great,” Horst said. “Working his butt off, as you can imagine. Very, very diligent in his rehab. Focused on really only one thing, and that’s returning to play. Driving him crazy not having the opportunity to play right now. We will obviously make sure he doesn’t come back too soon and protect him, and work with him on that.

“But he’s doing really well and expects him to be back kind of on the initial timeline we had, which is still two or three weeks away at least,” Horst continued.

Some reports have floated the possibility that Antetokounmpo could return shortly after the All-Star break. Milwaukee’s first game of the second half is scheduled against the New Orleans Pelicans.

For now, the Bucks remain cautious, and any concrete timeline will ultimately depend on further evaluations and official updates from the organisation or Antetokounmpo himself.
