Employment Mission has been given Rs 200 crore in UP Budget 2026-27. Initiatives include creation of labor bases for migrant workers, free education in Atal residential schools, mobile health vans and family ID to 8.41 crore workers.
Lucknow. While presenting the budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the Assembly, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that special attention has been paid to increasing employment opportunities in the state. A provision of Rs 200 crore has been made to institutionally strengthen the Uttar Pradesh Employment Mission Committee.
The aim of the government is to provide better employment opportunities to the workers at national and international level through this mission. This initiative is being considered an important step towards giving new impetus to employment generation in the state.
Construction of labor bases for migrant laborers
The budget has announced the creation of labor bases for workers working in cities away from their villages and homes. With this, workers will be able to get an organized, safe and well-organized workplace. This step has been taken with the aim of ensuring labor management, facility expansion and security of migrant workers.
Empowerment of labor families through education
Social upliftment of labor families has been given priority in Budget 2026-27. Free and quality education is being provided from class 6 to 12 in Atal Residential Schools. At present 10,876 children from labor families are studying in these schools. A provision of Rs 70 crore has been made in the budget for this scheme.
Mobile health van and health facility for construction workers
For the first time, mobile health van has been started as a pilot project for health check-up and health education of construction workers. Along with this, the ex-gratia grant system for registered unorganized workers has been continued. In case of accidental death or complete disability, an assistance of Rs 2 lakh will be given and in case of partial disability, Rs 1 lakh will be given.
Family ID to 8.41 crore workers: Emphasis on digital transparency
The government has linked 8.41 crore workers registered on the e-Shram portal to the Family ID. Its objective is to ensure targeted and transparent implementation of government schemes. This is an important step towards expanding the scope of social security schemes and delivering benefits directly to the eligible workers through digital identity.
Overall, the UP Budget 2026-27 emerges as a comprehensive initiative focused on employment generation, worker welfare, education, health and digital empowerment.
