UP Budget 2026: Tourism and culture have got a big boost in the UP Budget 2026-27. Provision has been made for women guide license fees waived, 50 thousand new homestays, extension of tourism policy till 2032 and Rs 500 crore tourism development scheme. Read full details below.
Uttar Pradesh Tourism Budget 2026: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has given special priority to tourism and culture in the budget for the financial year 2026-27. Many important announcements have been made in this budget, the aim of which is to further strengthen the state on the national and international tourism map. The most important announcement is to waive the license fee charged from women guides and extend the provisions of UP Tourism Policy 2022 till the year 2032. Apart from this, a target has been set to develop 50 thousand new homestay rooms to increase residential facilities for tourists.
Women guide license fee waived, UP Tourism Policy 2022 extended till 2032
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna has taken a big decision in the budget speech to increase the participation of women in the tourism sector. The license fee of Rs 10,000 charged from women guides has been completely waived. Also, it has been announced to extend all the provisions and benefits of UP Tourism Policy 2022 till the year 2032. This will boost investment and provide stability to the tourism industry.
50 thousand new homestay rooms: digital registration and single window system
In view of the increasing number of tourists in the state, the government has set a target of developing 50,000 new homestay rooms in the year 2026-27. These homestays will be divided into heritage, urban and rural categories. On the basis of features these will be classified into Silver and Gold level. Branded operators will also be allowed to take homestay accommodation on lease. There will be 100 percent digital registration of all homestays and the facility of single window clearance system will be provided, making the process easy and transparent.
122 crore tourists arrived, 500 crore for tourism development scheme
The Finance Minister said that in the first six months of the year 2025, about 122 crore tourists arrived in Uttar Pradesh, which is a record. In view of the increasing tourism flow, a provision of Rs 500 crore has been made under the Chief Minister Tourist Places Development Scheme. Rs 150 crore will be given to Shri Ayodhya Teerth Vikas Parishad for tourism infrastructure in Ayodhyadham. Other than this-
- Naimisharanya Teerth Kshetra – Rs 100 crore
- Vindhyavasini Dham – Rs 100 crore
- Varanasi- Rs 100 crore
The Charitable Works Department has proposed Rs 200 crore for the development of parikrama path and public facilities in the triangular area of Mirzapur, Maa Vindhyavasini Temple, Maa Ashtabhuja Temple and Maa Kali Khoh Temple. A provision of Rs 100 crore has been made for the renovation and reconstruction of the protected temples of the state.
Cultural Projects and Museums in Ayodhya, Kashi, Prayagraj
Referring to the achievements of the Tourism and Culture Department, the Finance Minister said that the construction work of Rampath in Ayodhya is in the final stage. This will provide the devotees with a smooth travel experience. Other than this-
- Vedic Science Center in Kashi and Nishadraj Guha Cultural Center have been established in Prayagraj.
- Tharu Tribal Culture Museum in Balrampur, Late in Varanasi. The construction of Lal Bahadur Shastri Museum and the museum and complex at Bharatratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee's village in Bateshwar has been completed.
- The construction work of Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial and Cultural Center is going on in Aishbagh, Lucknow.
- Infrastructure and tourism facilities are also being developed rapidly at major pilgrimage sites like Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, Kashi-Sarnath and Prayagraj.
Uttar Pradesh towards becoming a tourism hub
These announcements of Budget 2026-27 are important steps towards establishing Uttar Pradesh as a tourism and cultural hub. This will not only strengthen the local economy but will also create new opportunities for employment generation. Besides, the religious, cultural and historical heritage of the state will be conserved and promoted, due to which Uttar Pradesh will become a favorite destination for tourists.
