The UPSC has opened the application process for the IES and ISS exams. This is a golden opportunity for candidates preparing for government jobs. The Union Public Service Commission has released the official notification for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) exams in 2026. This recruitment process will select eligible candidates for important departments of the central government. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online by visiting the UPSC's official website. The application process has begun, and candidates can fill out the form until March 3rd, 2026. How many positions will be filled?

According to the notification issued by the UPSC, a total of 44 positions will be filled under this recruitment drive. 16 positions are reserved for IES and 28 for ISS. Both services are among the prestigious services of the Central Government.

Age Limit

To apply for this recruitment, a candidate must be at least 21 years of age. The maximum age is 30 years. According to the notification, candidates must be born no earlier than August 2, 1996, and no later than August 1, 2005. Age relaxation will be provided to reserved category candidates as per government regulations.

Qualifications

For the IES position, a candidate must have a postgraduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or Econometrics from a recognized university. For the ISS position, a candidate must have a Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics, along with a Bachelor's degree.

Application Fee

The UPSC has fixed the application fee for this recruitment at ₹200. Female candidates, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and differently-abled candidates are fully exempted from the application fee.

UPSC will also open a correction window

UPSC will also provide candidates with the opportunity to correct errors in the application form. The Commission will open a correction window, allowing candidates to make corrections within the stipulated time.
