Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee has allocated Rs 500 crore each to the newly formed Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal corporations for carrying out development works in their respective zones. The GHMC will fund all the expenses of the civic bodies, reports said.
Senior bureaucrat Jayesh Ranjan convened the standing committee meeting, exercising his powers as the special officer for the three corporations.
‘Priority to deliver effective, responsive governance:’
Speaking to the media, he said that they formed a task force team under the leadership of Centre for Good Governance (CGG) to finalize the debt, liabilities and assets among the three corporations.
“Experts who worked on financial issues during the bifurcation of the state will be in this committee. They will give a report as soon as possible. There will be no obstacles to the continuation of important projects,” he said.
He stated that the newly constituted municipal corporations under the Core Urban Region framework, must deliver efficient and responsive governance to the citizens. He directed the three commissioners, additional commissioners and senior officials to speed up development work and improve civic service delivery.
He also noted that the salaries of the employees of the three corporations will come from GHMC by March 31. We are focusing specifically on sanitation, traffic, roads and the upcoming monsoon season, he said.
In a statement, GHMC said that a clear six-month action roadmap was set to strengthen civic services and accelerate development works.
Some of the key decisions include fast-tracking of SRDP, SNDP and H-City projects, focus on pothole-free roads, improved street lighting and monsoon preparedness. Sanitation competitions to create garbage-vulnerable-point-free wards. Six-month performance target for visible improvements at ward level.
