How to Get to Heaven From Belfast is a captivating and side-splitting new crime drama from Lisa McGee, the mastermind behind Derry Girls.
Launching this Thursday (12th February), the eight-episode series charts the journey of three women who set off on an adventure across Northern Ireland and the Republic to uncover the truth about their supposedly deceased friend.
As the story unfolds, Saoirse (portrayed by Roisin Gallagher), Robyn (Sinéad Keenan), and Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne) learn that their former schoolmate Greta (Natasha O'Keeffe) is in fact alive and attempting to wipe out her identity following a grave offence.
Greta ultimately reconnects with her spouse Owen (Emmett J. Scanlan) and their daughter Maria (Matilda Freeman), whilst fixers Booker (Bronagh Gallagher) and Feeney (Saoirse-Monica Jackson) establish a fresh operation after uncovering their employer's corruption, reports Belfast Live.
Whilst the majority of the storylines appear resolved, the closing scenes of the eighth episode present a fresh mystery when the trio retrieve a bag that Greta possessed following a confrontation with Conrad (Conor MacNeill) and an enigmatic group in the woods.
A possible second series would ideally disclose the bag's contents and, crucially, identify who murdered Conrad by stabbing him in the neck with a screwdriver.
Creator McGee has spoken exclusively to Reach regarding her vision for a second series, should Netflix commission it. "I know right now what's in the bag," she teased.
"But I'm not saying I might not change my mind, which is why I left it so vague.
"I have a very clear idea of what it is, but if I think of something that works better or that might be more interesting when I start to write season two, I want to be able to change my mind."
The closing episode of the first series also hinted at the prospect of Booker and Feeney making a comeback, potentially enlisting Saoirse, Robyn and Dara into their newly formed organisation. The pair were initially members of a clandestine group established to assist women in beginning afresh, before uncovering that it was exploiting those it claimed to support.
Following the elimination of the remaining members with assistance from the midwife (Shauna Bray), Booker may well resurface in the second series with a revamped team, which McGee hints could include some recognisable characters.
The screenwriter confirms she's receptive to the notion of bringing in some beloved figures from her acclaimed comedy Derry Girls, noting: "The idea that that organisation is all from Derry really makes me laugh. It's so stupid. And that they operate out of this hairdresser's, it's just ridiculous.
"So, I'd like to add more people to the organisation. Everyone from Derry has been in Derry Girls, probably, but whether they're from Derry Girls or not, yeah."
Regarding the main trio, the leading actors remained tight-lipped about their thoughts for a second series. However, actress Dunne did express one wish for her character Dara, following the audience's glimpse into her disastrous love life.

"I would like Dara to maybe have the opportunity of love in season two," she revealed.
"Or even, just a chance to exorcise those demons from season one. At least try... she couldn't possibly get it right. She'll make an absolute mess of it."
Adding a touch of humour, Dunne's co-star Keenan cheekily interjected: "Dara needs a ride, basically."
As it stands, the future of the new Irish crime-comedy remains uncertain, but fingers are crossed that its popularity will secure a sequel.
How to Get to Heaven From Belfast is available to stream on Netflix.
