A Strictly Come Dancing star's ex-wife has admitted that the concept of marriage has been "ruined" for her and has vowed never to tie the knot again. Having found one specific aspect of the break-up incredibly "stressful," Portia Jett now takes a "different view" of marriage, following the end of her nine-year marriage to Strictly 2016 winner Ore Oduba in 2024.
In fact, Portia-who has two children with Ore, a son named Roman and a daughter, Genie-is so deterred by the idea that she stated she would "never" put herself through it again. According to The Mail's Richard Eden, Ore's revelation of a more than 30-year porn addiction may have left a "lasting impact," yet it appears that a significant strain has come from the aftermath of the separation. Portia said: "I have a different view of marriage and the advice I would give my children.
She added: "The divorce process is one of the hardest and most stressful thing I have ever been through. I would never put myself through that again."
It seems Portia hasn't completely sworn off love, as she's dating 37-year-old British-German businessman Joshua Saxon Birch, but she now seeks a long-term romantic pledge in the shape of a "promise ring".
In 2024, while announcing the separation, Ore wrote that they were "grateful for all the love" they'd received over the years, and thanked people for respecting their privacy as they "navigated this difficult transition".
Ore and Portia first crossed paths while they were studying at Loughborough University back in 2010; they tied the knot at Penshurst Place in Kent five years later, in 2015.
Last year, Ore opened up about his life post-split on the Extraordinary Life Stories podcast, saying he's now experiencing a "completely different life" after the "painful" breakdown.
He shared: "My wife and I split up 12 months ago. And the life before that and the life that I've grown into are just ... entirely different. There's nothing, there are no similarities whatsoever."
Ore went on to reveal his transformation was "definitely painful", but he had "found himself". He also spoke about his faith, admitting that he "wasn't the best Christian".
He said: "I wasn't the best Christian, but I'd been very in touch with my faith up until Strictly Come Dancing.
"I used to pray every Friday night about the Saturday, just to put my best foot forward. I couldn't wait to deliver a performance on the Saturday night.
"Obviously, things went rather well. And Joanne [Clifton] and I came out and won that show completely unexpectedly."
