The FA Cup fourth round kicks off tonight. This stage of the competition features 16 ties, including 14 Premier League teams and several lower-league hopefuls including sixth-tier Macclesfield, who caused a massive shock in the previous round. Express Sport rounds up the rules for thsi weekend's matches...

• No replays: One of the biggest traditional changes this season is the complete scrapping of replays from the first round proper onwards. If matches are level after 90 minutes tonight or throughout the weekend, they will go straight to 30 minutes of extra-time and then a penalty shootout if necessary.

• No VAR: Video Assistant Referees (VAR) and Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) will NOT be used in the fourth round. The FA has decided these technologies will only be implemented from the fifth round onwards.

• Substitution rules: Managers can name up to nine substitutes on their bench and are permitted to use five of them during the match. These changes must be made within three opportunities (plus half-time). An additional "concussion sub" is also allowed if a player suffers a suspected head injury.

• Prize money: Teams competing this weekend are not just playing for a spot in the next round; there is a significant financial incentive on the line. Winning clubs in the fourth round will receive a payment of £127,000 from the competition's prize fund.

• Schedule and draw: The fourth round begins tonight (Friday, February 13) and concludes with Macclesfield vs Brentford on Monday (February 16). The draw for the fifth round is scheduled to take place on Monday evening, shortly before that final televised kick-off.
