EPFO Rule: The EPFO is launching a major feature for salaried employees. The EPFO is preparing to launch a new mobile app by April 2026, which will be part of the EPFO 3.0 upgrade. It aims to make the process of withdrawing PF funds completely easy, fast, and digital. This will benefit approximately 8 crore PF members in the country. Let's explore the features of this app and learn how much money you can withdraw through UPI.

Money Directly to the bank account via UPI
After the new system is implemented, PF members will be able to transfer money directly to their linked bank accounts through UPI. Currently, PF withdrawals require online claims, filling out forms, and waiting for several days. However, with the new app, users simply need to log in, select the amount, and enter the UPI PIN. The agreed amount will then be credited directly to their bank account.

How much can you withdraw at a time?
According to media reports, a one-time withdrawal limit of approximately ₹25,000 may be set. However, the entire PF balance cannot be withdrawn at once. At least 25 percent of the total deposit will be locked for retirement security, meaning this amount will be protected for the future.

Two types of balances will be visible in the app
The new app will display your PF balance in two parts:

Eligible Balance (withdrawable amount) – This is the amount you can withdraw immediately.

Locked Balance (secured amount) – This portion will not be withdrawn until retirement.
This will provide users with clear information about how much they can withdraw and how much is secured for the future.

Claim Settlement in 3 Days
EPFO has also upgraded the auto-settlement facility. Now, claims up to ₹5 lakh can be settled electronically within three days without manual verification. Previously, this limit was ₹1 lakh. This feature will be very helpful for essential expenses such as illness, education, marriage, or housing.

Integration with BHIM and other UPI apps
The new app will be integrated with BHIM and other UPI platforms, providing users with a seamless banking app-like experience. The system is being tested before launch to ensure there are no technical issues.

This means that after April 2026, withdrawing PF funds through UPI will be easier, faster, and more convenient than ever before.
