Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana: The Delhi government has launched a new initiative to strengthen the education and financial security of girls. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced the "Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana." This scheme is an upgraded version of the Ladli Yojana, launched in 2008, aimed at providing financial support for education to as many girls as possible. In a press conference on Tuesday, the Chief Minister announced that the new scheme will be implemented from April 1st. So, let's explore the benefits under this scheme and who can benefit from it.
Speaking at the press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the government wants no girl child in Delhi to have to leave her studies midway due to a lack of money. With this in mind, the scheme has been revamped to increase the amount of assistance and make the rules more practical. The Chief Minister said, "We will launch the upgraded scheme on April 1st and discontinue the old Ladli Yojana."
What will be covered under the scheme?
Under this scheme, the government will deposit a total of ₹56,000 in multiple installments, which, combined with interest, will eventually amount to ₹1 lakh. This amount will be transferred directly to the daughter's Aadhaar-linked bank account. This money will be disbursed when the girl turns 21 or completes her graduation or diploma. This means that the government deposits in multiple installments will add up to ₹1 lakh and be credited to the girl's account upon graduation or attaining 21 years of age.
Who will benefit from the scheme?
This scheme will benefit only those girls:
Born in Delhi
Whose family has been a resident of Delhi for at least three years
Whose family income does not exceed ₹1 lakh
A maximum of two daughters per family will be covered under this scheme.
Even if the daughter is pursuing a diploma or graduation outside Delhi, she will still receive this amount.
How will the money be disbursed phase-wise?
The government will assist at various stages.
On the birth of a daughter - ₹11,000
On admission to Class 1 - ₹5,000
On admission to Classes 6, 9, 10, and 12 - ₹5,000 per class
On completion of graduation or diploma - ₹20,000
The total amount, including interest, will be ₹1 lakh.
Stuck funds under the Ladli Scheme will also be released.
The CM stated that there were many accounts under the Ladli Scheme where funds were deposited, but were stuck due to unclaimed funds. The government has launched a campaign to identify thousands of beneficiaries, and a significant amount has been released. In the future, the remaining beneficiaries will also receive their entitlements.
