How to change father's name to husband's name in Aadhaar card: If you are married and want to change your father's name to your husband's name on your Aadhaar card, this article can be helpful. This task has now become much easier. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has provided the facility to change the relationship details, i.e., 'Care of (C/o)' information. This allows you to make these changes to your Aadhaar card both online and offline. Let's explore the easy process:
What documents are required?
To add a husband's name, the applicant must provide proof of the relationship. You can submit any of the following documents for this purpose:
Marriage certificate issued by a competent authority
Passport with the husband's name
Ration card with the husband's name
Joint bank passbook
Any other relationship proof approved by UIDAI
A copy of one of these documents must be submitted with the application.
How to update online?
To make changes online:
First, visit the UIDAI Self-Service Update Portal website.
Enter your Aadhaar number here and log in using the OTP.
After logging in, select the 'Update Aadhaar Online' option.
Then, go to 'Relationship Details' and fill in your husband's name correctly.
Following this, upload scanned copies of the required documents.
After carefully checking all the information, submit the application.
After submitting the application, you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN). Using this number, you can check the status of your application online. The update is usually completed within 7 to 10 days.
How to make changes offline?
If you don't want to proceed online, you can also make these changes by visiting your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Enrolment Center.
You must fill out the Aadhaar correction form here and enter your husband's name in the relationship details.
Submit photocopies of the required documents along with it.
Biometric verification can also be performed if required.
After the process is complete, you will be given an acknowledgment receipt.
You can track the status of your application using the number provided in this receipt.
This way, married women can easily update their husband's name instead of their father's name on their Aadhaar card.
