Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana: Governments in different states across the country run various schemes for their citizens. Some of these schemes are specifically designed with women and girls in mind, providing them with education, security, and financial strength.
In this regard, the Delhi government has announced the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana to secure the future of daughters. The aim of this initiative is not just to provide financial assistance, but to secure a daughter's future from birth, enabling her to become self-reliant in the future. Learn how to apply for the scheme.
How the assistance will be provided
Under this Delhi government scheme, the amount will not be given all at once. Instead, financial support will be provided at various stages during her education after birth. An amount of ₹11,000 will be deposited at the time of birth. 5,000 rupees will be given upon admission to first, sixth, and ninth grades. An incentive will be given upon passing tenth grade, and assistance will also be provided upon admission to twelfth grade. 20,000 rupees will be given in installments during graduation or diploma. Upon reaching the age of 21 or completing higher education, approximately 1 lakh rupees, including interest, will be transferred directly to the daughter's bank account via DBT.
These girls will benefit
This scheme will be available only to families who have resided in Delhi for at least three years. The daughter's birth must be registered in Delhi. The parents or guardians must have an Aadhaar card and an active bank account. The annual family income must not exceed 1.20 lakh rupees. Only a maximum of two daughters per family will be included under this scheme. If the stated academic terms are not met, the deposited amount can be withdrawn.
How to apply?
This Delhi government scheme will be implemented in the state from April 1. The application process hasn't yet begun. However, the government will soon launch a dedicated digital portal for this purpose. Applications must be submitted online within the stipulated timeframe. Eligible families should have their birth certificates, Aadhaar, and bank account details ready so they can apply as soon as the portal opens.
