US President Donald Trump said on Friday that the US used a secret weapon in the military operation in Venezuela on January 3. According to Trump, because of this weapon the defense systems of Russia and China could not function. Addressing troops at Fort Bragg military base in North Carolina, Trump called the weapon a ‘discombobulator’. However, he refused to give more information about it.
What did Trump say?
In his address, Trump said that Venezuelan soldiers did not get a chance to fire a single bullet during the operation by American troops. Russian equipment did not work. Chinese equipment did not work. Everyone is trying to understand why this happened. One day you will know about it.
This is the first time Trump has mentioned this secret weapon in a public event. He had mentioned it once before. In an interview with the New York Post last week, he said, “I’m not allowed to talk about it. But let me tell you, the whole thing was messed up.”
America used 150 planes for the attack
According to Air Force General Dan Kane, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, more than 150 planes took off from 20 bases to attack Venezuela. These included bombers, fighter jets, intelligence and surveillance platforms. In this operation, American soldiers reached Venezuela’s capital Caracas by helicopter in the dark of night. They arrested then-President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores amid heavy security.
According to Venezuelan officials, the attack was triggered by US bombing, which targeted military targets. 83 people died and more than 112 people were injured in this action. Trump said that no American soldiers were killed, but three helicopter pilots were injured.
