TV presenter Janet Street-Porter will host Britain's biggest construction and property awards, which are sponsored by the Sunday Express. The Loose Women panellist will hand out the accolades at a glittering ceremony in Manchester on April 30. The British Construction and Property Awards, celebrating the nation's most ambitious developers, contractors and investors, return after the roaring success of last year's inaugural event.
The shortlist for this year's prizes has now been unveiled as organisers announced that the legendary broadcaster will take centre stage on the big night. This year's shortlist recognises firms delivering major regeneration schemes, high-quality housing and leading commercial projects across the UK.
Janet told the Sunday Express: "As someone who studied architecture and has built two modern houses which made industry headlines, I've had buckets of experience of builders, design, and construction.
"I'm delighted to be able to celebrate the best of British by hosting the Sunday Express Construction and Property Awards."
In the Property Developer of the Year category, Berkeley Group, Muse and Legacie are in contention, while Legacie also features in the Build to Rent Developer of the Year alongside Renaker and Simple Life Homes.

The Home Builder of the Year award sees last year's winner Barratt Redrow up against Taylor Wimpey, Jarron Developments and other developers competing for the top prize, reflecting a strong year for residential delivery.
Leading construction firms Wates Group, AECOM and Cara Construction are shortlisted for National Construction Business of the Year, while RWinvest and Strada Real Estate are among the nominees in investment and international agency categories. Michael Gledhill, of Nexus Residential, is also in contention for the Male Property Champion of the Year, which recognises individuals driving growth and innovation across the sector.
Sustainability is a key focus at this year's ceremony. Next Energy Solutions has been recognised for its work in greener development and energy efficiency alongside its nomination for an Outstanding Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. SBFM is shortlisted in the Facilities Management category for its work supporting major property portfolios, with CEO Colin Shute credited for driving operational excellence across the business.
Regeneration projects are also in the spotlight. Earls Court and Bramley Moore Dock, Everton's Stadium Development, are among the schemes vying for the Regeneration Impact Award, recognising developments that deliver lasting economic and social benefits for the future.
Individual achievement within the industry is also celebrated. Chris Cox, of Sterling Plastering Group, is shortlisted in the leadership categories, highlighting figures driving growth and innovation across the sector.
Sara Cahill, the British Construction and Property Awards, said: "This year's shortlist demonstrates the strength and resilience of the UK construction and property sector. Despite challenging conditions, these firms continue to deliver projects that shape communities across the country and we are looking forward to celebrating their achievements over the last 12 months."
A Sunday Express spokesman added: "As the Sunday Express's flagship construction and property awards - and Britain's biggest event of its kind - this celebration recognises the pioneers, builders and contractors who quite literally keep the nation moving.
"Their work delivers the homes, infrastructure and commercial spaces that drive investment, create jobs and power economic growth in every region of the country. We are proud to support for the second year running, championing the talent, innovation and enterprise that underpin the country's built environment and strengthen the UK economy."
The winners will be revealed at the gala in Manchester on 30 April, where Janet Street-Porter will host an evening honouring the innovation, ambition and leadership driving the industry forward.
