The National Testing Agency is set to release the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results soon, bringing an end to the wait for lakhs of engineering aspirants across the country. The first session of the examination was conducted between January 21 and January 29, 2026, across various test centers.

Initially, candidates were expecting the result to be declared by February 12, but the announcement has been slightly delayed. As per the latest update, the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 scores are likely to be released by February 16, 2026. Along with the results, the NTA will also publish the final answer key, enabling students to verify their scores accurately.

Once the results are declared, candidates can log in to the official website—jeemain.nta.nic.in—using their application number and date of birth to download the scorecard.

NTA has confirmed that the Session 2 examination will be conducted in April 2026, giving candidates another opportunity to improve their performance.

Expert Review: Difficulty Level and Expected Cut-Off

As per exam experts, the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 paper was of moderate difficulty. Students found Mathematics slightly lengthy, while Physics and Chemistry ranged between easy and moderate.

Based on the difficulty level and previous years’ trends, experts predict that the expected percentile cut-off for General category candidates for eligibility into JEE Advanced 2026 may fall between 91 to 93 percentile.

However, the final cut-off will only be announced after Session 2 results, as NTA prepares a combined merit list considering the best of two attempts.

Candidates who feel their performance in Session 1 wasn’t satisfactory shouldn’t feel discouraged. They can appear in Session 2, and NTA will automatically consider the higher score while preparing the final All India Rank (AIR).

Why Session 2 Is Important

For many students, Session 2 is a crucial opportunity because:

  • It helps improve overall percentile

  • Better performance can significantly boost AIR

  • Some students perform better with familiarity after Session 1

  • Final JEE Advanced eligibility is based on combined best score

NTA’s two-attempt system ensures that students are not disadvantaged due to exam-day stress, technical issues, or lower performance in any one attempt.

When to Expect the Final Answer Key

Along with the result, the National Testing Agency will publish the final answer key, which reflects the outcome of the objections raised by candidates. This key is important because:

  • No further changes will be made once it is released

  • Marks will be calculated strictly according to the final key

The final answer key will also be available at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Conclusion

With the result date approaching, candidates are advised to keep their login details ready and regularly monitor the official website for updates. The JEE Main Session 1 result is crucial for students aiming for top NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, as well as for those targeting JEE Advanced 2026.
