Kota: A car narrowly avoided falling into a muddy pit and a nearby stream after allegedly following wrong directions shown on Google Maps. The incident occurred on Friday night at Upladi off the main road near Sahebrakatte in Kota.
A family from Kerala was travelling to Kollur to visit the temple of Kollur Mookambika Temple. Instead of continuing straight on National Highway 66, they followed a diversion suggested by Google Maps and proceeded towards Kota via Brahmavara and Barkur through Sahebrakatte.
When the car reached near the Upladi stream, the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle first hit an electric pole and then climbed onto a cement pillar near the stream bank. The car came to a halt just one foot away from a muddy pit, thereby averting a major tragedy.
There were five people in the car, including women and children. Fortunately, all of them escaped without serious injury.
On receiving information, Kota police reached the spot and, with the help of local residents, safely rescued the occupants from the vehicle.
A case has been registered at Kota Police Station in connection with the incident.
