A tragic accident occurred in Vaippar-I village, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals, including two children. According to police reports, the incident took place in Thoothukudi district during the evening when a two-wheeler collided head-on with a tourist vehicle.
The victims were traveling on a two-wheeler from Pallakulam village when their vehicle collided with a tourist van heading towards Thoothukudi from Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram district, leading to a severe crash.
Condolences and Compensation Announced
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed his condolences for the deceased and announced a compensation package for the affected families. In a statement, he conveyed his deep sorrow over the tragic loss of all five individuals who died at the scene due to the collision.
Among the deceased were two boys aged three and five. The Chief Minister extended his sympathies to the families of the victims and declared that each family would receive a compensation of three lakh rupees.
Financial Assistance for Victims' Families Compensation Details
To support the families affected by this tragedy, the Chief Minister has announced financial assistance from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund:
For the families of the deceased: Each family will receive a compensation of three lakh rupees.
Instructions have been issued to the district administration to expedite assistance to the affected families.
This unfortunate incident highlights the critical need for adherence to road safety regulations and the dangers of overloading two-wheelers. The police have registered a case and are currently interrogating the driver of the tourist vehicle.
