PCS Cadre Allotment: Clearing the PCS interview is a major turning point for any candidate. After years of hard work, dedication, and continuous preparation, when your name appears on the final list, the first question that arises is what job you will get and where you will be posted. Many candidates assume that they will immediately secure a job after the interview, but in reality, there's a whole system at work. This system determines the position you will receive and your cadre.
These jobs are available after passing the PCS exam
After passing the PCS exam, candidates are appointed to various administrative positions within the state government, such as:
Deputy Collector
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)
Block Development Officer (BDO)
Tehsildar or Naib Tehsildar
Commercial Tax Officer
District Probation Officer
Which of these positions you will receive is directly linked to your merit.
Understand the entire game of cadre allocation.
In PCS, cadre allocation is entirely a function of your hard work. The final merit list prepared after the interview determines your department and post. Your Mains marks, interview marks, and overall rank play a significant role in this list. Before the interview, you are asked to fill out a post-preference form in which you rank your preferred jobs. If your merit is high, you may receive your first or second choice, but if your rank is lower, the cadre allocation is based on the available posts.
Training Before Posting
You don't have to join the office immediately after receiving a post. Training is provided first to gain an understanding of administrative work. After this, you are posted to various districts within the state, and you are also transferred periodically.
