Indian Railways: Great news for rail passengers! Indian Railways has decided to remove the superfast tag from 10 major trains, including the Vibhuti and Netaji Express. With this change, which will come into effect in April, passengers will no longer have to pay a superfast surcharge, resulting in a direct reduction in ticket fares.
Indian Railways: Before the start of summer vacation, Indian Railways has given a major gift to millions of passengers. The fares of 10 major trains are set to decrease starting in April. The Railways has decided to remove the superfast status from these trains, meaning passengers will no longer have to pay a superfast surcharge.
Why are tickets getting cheaper?
For a long time, passengers have been questioning the superfast charges due to the average speed and increased stoppages on these trains. The Railways has now decided to place these trains in the normal express category. Once the superfast tag is removed from these trains, ticket prices will automatically decrease. Additionally, these trains will operate with new train numbers.
Passengers on these 10 trains will see savings.
This railway decision will primarily impact trains on the Howrah, Prayagraj, Dehradun, and Jammu Tawi routes:
Vibhuti Express Prayagraj Rambagh-Howrah (Up and Down)
Netaji Express Howrah-Kalka (Up and Down)
Upasana Express Howrah-Dehradun (Up and Down)
Kumbh Express Howrah-Dehradun (Up and Down)
Himgiri Express Howrah-Jammu Tawi (Up and Down)
These routes will benefit the most
This change will benefit those traveling between North and East India. Passengers traveling through stations like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Patna, and Howrah will see a reduced burden on their pockets. Passengers on these trains with more stops will now be able to travel at express fares, which will be budget-friendly for families and students traveling long distances.
When will the new rates be implemented?
This new railway fare policy will be implemented in phases between April 13 and April 16, 2026. Starting in mid-April, passengers booking tickets will see the reduced fares reflected in the system. For example, trains like the Vibhuti Express (31 stops) and Netaji Express (38 stops) will no longer require additional surcharges.
