There's great news for young people who dream of bringing change to rural India. The SBI Foundation has opened registrations for the 14th batch of the Youth for India Fellowship. This fellowship provides educated and enthusiastic youth with the opportunity to work on development projects in villages. Selected candidates work with NGOs in various states in areas such as education, health, livelihoods, and women's empowerment. The program not only provides social experience but also develops leadership skills and grassroots understanding. Interested candidates can apply online according to the prescribed eligibility criteria.
What is the fellowship, and how long does it last?
This is a 13-month, full-time fellowship program. Selected youth are sent to rural areas, where they participate in development work alongside experienced NGOs. The goal is to provide them with an opportunity to understand grassroots problems and work on solutions.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be Indian citizens. OCI, Nepal, and Bhutanese citizens are also eligible.
Age must be between 21 and 32 years.
A graduate degree from a recognized university is required.
The degree must be completed by October 1, 2026.
Areas of work during the fellowship?
Fellows have the opportunity to work in approximately 12 key areas, including education, health, environment, rural entrepreneurship, livelihoods, and women's empowerment. This provides them with practical experience related to society and development.
Financial Support and Facilities
A monthly allowance of ₹16,000 will be provided for accommodation and daily needs.
An additional ₹2,000 per month will be provided for travel and local transportation expenses.
A monthly support of ₹2,000 will be provided for project-related work and field activities.
An additional ₹1,000 per month will be provided for professional training and skill development.
Special language assistance will be provided while working in the project area.
A one-time termination allowance of ₹110,000 will be provided upon successful completion of the fellowship.
