It's a hate-and-hate relationship between Bollywood actor Jaya Bachchan and paparazzi. Videos of an annoyed Jaya jo often surface on social media in which is seen schooling the paps. Recently, at an event in Mumbai, Jaya was clicked while she was talking to Karan Johar. The filmmaker joked about the fact that how the paps managed to get a picture of Jaya because of him. Here's what happened:

Jaya Bachchan and Karan Johar met at The Honours hosted by The Hollywood Reporter India where a playful exchange between them and the paps caught everyone’s attention.
As Karan greeted Jaya, he gave her a hug and two began chatting candidly. The photographers nearby kept requesting them repeatedly to pose for a picture together, but they seemed engrossed.
Teasing her, Karan playfully said, “From Gen-Z to paparazzi, everybody is obsessed with you,” Bachchan was unexpectedly seen smiling at Johar’s remark.
After the chat, they walked away. Karan looked at the paparazzi and said, “Mere wajah se mila photo (You got your photos because of me).”
The filmmaker then turned around and repeated it to Jaya. He said, “I just told them. I said, 'Mere wajah se mila photo.” A bemused Jaya and everyone around laughed, including Karan. The moment got viral owing to Karan’s tongue-in-cheek humour and Jaya’s rare smile in front of the paps.

In another clip from the same event, Jaya was seen talking to her friends while photographers continued asking her to pose for a few clicks. She turned around to hide her face from the cameras. When the photographers moved closer, she gestured for them to step back, repeatedly saying “enough.”
Jaya Bachchan’s history with paparazziJaya Bachchan evidently shares an unpleasant equation with paps. This isn’t the first time she has expressed displeasure with photographers hovering around.
In a chat with Barkha Dutt, she was asked about her equation with paps. She replied that she has “zero relationship” with them. Adding further about the photographers on the field, she went on to say that she respects people in the media profession a lot as her father is a journalist.
She said, “I am the product of the media. Who are these people? Are they trained to be representing the people of this country? You call them media? I come from the media. My father was a journalist. I have immense respect, tremendous respect for such people.”
What she said further angered the paparazzi. Criticising their appearance and clothes, she went on to attack the people who follow her to click pictures.
She added, “Magar yeh jo bahar drainpipe tight, gande gande pant pehen ke, haath mein mobile leke… they think that because they have a mobile, they can take your picture and say what they want. And the kind of comments they pass — what kind of people are these people? Kahan se aate hain? Kis tarah ka education hai? Kya background hai?”
Bachchan was last seen in Dharma’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), which was directed by Karan Johar. The film starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
