Zimbabwe made history when they won their last group stage game of T20 World Cup 2026 against Sri Lanka on February 19 at Colombo. The match took place at the R. Premadasa Stadium, where Zimbabwe chased down a strong target of 179 runs with four balls left.
Raza played a key role in the win. He scored 45 runs from 26 balls while batting at number four position and achieved two fours and four sixes during his batting performance. his strong batting performance helped Zimbabwe maintain control of the game. He scored runs at a fast pace with a strike rate of 173.08.
Raza bowled four overs during the match and conceded 36 runs. He did not take any wickets, but his bowling performance helped to maintain Sri Lankan batting pressure.
The win represented a critical victory for Zimbabwe as it will boost their moral going into the Super 8.

Raza Breaks World Records in T20 WC 2026
Raza received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance. He won his 20th Player of the Match award in T20Is. With this, he became the first player from a Full Member nation to reach this number.
He surpassed Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli in the rankings. He also broke a major record held by Rohit Sharma. At the age of 39 years and 301 days Raza became the oldest captain to win Player of the Match at both T20 World Cup and ICC event match.
