Karnataka slips to fourth spot among India's richest states in FY2025

New Delhi: Karnataka has slipped to the fourth position in the list of India’s richest states based on Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for the financial year 2025. The state, which had consistently held the third position for several years, has now been overtaken by Uttar Pradesh.

The data was released in the latest statistical handbook published by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on the finances of Indian states.

According to the figures, Maharashtra continues to top the list with a GSDP of Rs 45.32 lakh crore. Tamil Nadu holds the second position with Rs 31.19 lakh crore, followed by Uttar Pradesh at Rs 29.78 lakh crore. Karnataka stands fourth with a GSDP of Rs 28.84 lakh crore.

The report also highlights states with the lowest GSDP figures. Several northeastern states and some Union Territories are among the lowest-ranked regions.

Arunachal Pradesh recorded the lowest GSDP at Rs 4,423 crore. Puducherry reported Rs 5,216 crore, while Meghalaya’s GSDP stood at Rs 59,625.63 crore.
