Sarah Ferguson may have spoken frequently about her good relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II, but it seems that the previous monarch was not always her biggest fan. While it is believed the former Duchess of York and the late Queen did get on well; there were reportedly times when Her Late Majesty seemed irritated with her daughter-in-law.

One of these times was when Sarah kept getting caught up in financial scandals, some of which the late Queen seemed to have helped resolve for her. However, while this was a lovely gesture by Queen Elizabeth II, it seems it didn't delight her.

This was a claim put forward by historian Andrew Lownie, who wrote the bombshell book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, that the late Queen reportedly branded Sarah 'The Duchess of Deceit'.

The author claimed this in his Substack, in which he said a Palace source told him that the late Queen felt "an utter betrayal of the trust placed in her (Sarah)."

This was especially the late Queen's view when Sarah sold Royal Family secrets to "make a quick buck", according to an insider.

It is believed the late Queen felt this way towards Sarah more strongly in her later years.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Lownie claimed the source added: "The Queen (Elizabeth) described Sarah as the type of person who was beyond experiencing guilt, shame, or regret for her terrible actions because all she cared about was herself and nobody else."

While Queen Elizabeth may have felt this way, it is believed Sarah had always been fond of the late monarch, and continues to talk about her.

In 2024, Sarah said in an interview: "The thing about the Queen (Elizabeth) was that she was more my mother than my own mother.

"The Queen was an iconic, legendary, stalwart, steadfast, invisible hand of love behind your back."
