Ranchi: A chartered air ambulance flying from Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi to Delhi has crashed in Chatra district. The wreckage of the plane was found in Kathiyatu of Simaria police station area. There are reports of seven people on board this plane. Initially the reason for the accident is being said to be bad weather.
Earlier information had come to light that the air ambulance had gone missing somewhere between Palamu-Latehar, but later it was confirmed that it had crashed in Chatra. The plane was to reach Delhi at night, but this accident happened shortly after take off.
Contact was lost 24 minutes after takeoff
According to the information, this chartered ambulance took off from Ranchi Airport at 7.10 pm. It lost contact with ATC at 7:34 pm, just 24 minutes after takeoff.
As per the procedure, after taking off from Ranchi airport, the contact of the aircraft was handed over to the next station, but its contact with Varanasi Air Control could not be established. Since then there was a suspicion that the plane was missing. The plane did not make any attempt to establish contact with Ranchi Airport again, due to which the possibility of some serious untoward incident had increased.
Was bad weather the cause of the accident?
Shortly after the plane took off, the weather turned bad. It is believed that due to bad weather and low visibility, the pilot may have lost control of the plane, due to which this major accident occurred. However, the exact cause of the accident will be known only after a detailed investigation. Local administration and rescue teams have reached the spot.
