A portion of the M60 is was briefly closed this evening near the Trafford Centre following an incident.
The road has now reopened, according to live traffic service Inrix, but there are delays this evening.
The update read: "Queueing traffic due to earlier accident on M60 anticlockwise at J9 A5081 Park Way (Trafford Park)."
Reports indicate a collision has taken place.
Congestion continues to build in the area, with motorway cameras showing heavy delays. National Highways confirmed that all lanes are closed due to the road traffic collision.
Witnesses told the Manchester Evening News that a "serious crash" occurred near Carrington. Police and Highways officers are still on site, and diversions have been put in place.
