Why did the government bring a new feature of WhatsApp?

The Government of India has implemented the SIM binding system so that those mobile numbers which have either been switched off or have been resold to another person cannot be misused. Its main objective is to prevent cyber fraud, as scammers often target people through old or de-activated numbers. With this technology, the mobile number will now be directly linked to your device, making it very difficult for criminals to commit fraud in banking and other online services.
