New Delhi: In the Super-8 round of T20 World Cup 2026, a match was seen on Tuesday which increased the heartbeats of cricket lovers. In this important match played at the Pallekele Stadium, the England team, led by Harry Brook, defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets and made it to the semi-finals. England completed the target of 165 runs set by Pakistan with 5 balls remaining. This victory has also strengthened England’s claim in the tournament.

Captain Harry Brook played the most important role in this victory. When England’s top order failed and lost four wickets for 58 runs, Brook took charge. He played an electrifying inning of 100 runs in just 51 balls, which included 10 fours and 4 sixes. With his century, Brook has become the first captain to score a century in the history of T20 World Cup.

Partnerships restored the strength of the faltering innings

Despite the fall of wickets, Brook showed a fine balance of composure and aggression. He made important partnerships of 45 runs for the fifth wicket with Sam Curran (16) and 52 runs for the sixth wicket with Will Jacques (28). However, even big names like Jos Buttler (2), Jacob Bethel (8) and Phil Salt (0) could not touch double figures, but Brook’s commitment changed the course of the match. In the end, Joffra Archer led the team to victory by scoring unbeaten 5 runs in 2 balls.

Pakistan’s challenging performance and bowling struggles

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Pakistan scored 164 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Opener Sahibzada Farhan played a brilliant inning of 63 runs in 45 balls, which included 7 fours and 2 sixes. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman scored 25-25 runs respectively, but the team failed to score big. In bowling, Shaheen Afridi troubled England by taking 4 wickets, while Usman Tariq and Mohammad Nawaz took two wickets each, but they failed to stop Brook’s storm.
