
Azhar Mahmood: After retiring from Pakistan cricket, all-rounder Azhar Mahmood entered coaching. But, the current reality is that now they are not getting jobs anywhere. Azhar Mahmood himself told about this in a podcast. He told that he is paying the price of being Pakistani. Being from Pakistan, his talks going on at many places got spoiled. Azhar Mahmood expressed his pain in the Wisden Weekly Podcast.
Azhar Mahmood's pain spilled
Azhar Mahmood said in the podcast that a franchise of the Caribbean Premier League i.e. CPL talked to him about coaching. But later he turned around. According to Azhar Mahmood, the reason behind this was simply that he was Pakistani. He told that the CPL franchise told him that they do not hire Pakistani coaches.
Azhar Mehmood is paying the price of being Pakistani
Pakistan's right-handed all-rounder Azhar Mahmood said that he is surprised by what is happening. He further said that people should understand that I am an English qualified coach and I was coaching Surrey County Cricket. After coaching in England, I coached in Pakistan for two years. I remained associated with the Pakistan team, for which I am now paying the price. He said that because of that now I am finding it difficult to find a new job for myself.
Azhar Mahmood's international career
Azhar Mahmood played cricket for Pakistan for 10 years. His international career, which started in 1997, continued till 2007. During this period, apart from scoring more than 9000 runs for Pakistan, he also took more than 160 wickets. Azhar Mahmood has taken 39 wickets in Tests while he has taken 123 wickets in ODIs. Apart from scoring 1521 runs in ODIs, he has also scored 900 runs in Tests for Pakistan.
