Earlier, there was concern about high blood pressure only after the age of 40, but in today’s fast-paced life, people of 20 to 30 years of age are complaining about it. High blood pressure disease often causes harm inside the body without any symptoms. For this reason it is called silent killer. By the time a person comes to know about it, its effect on the heart, brain or kidneys has already started.
The biggest question is that why high blood pressure is increasing among the youth, the biggest reason for this is lifestyle. Now physical exertion has reduced a lot as compared to earlier. Working by sitting in front of laptop or mobile for hours, staying awake till late night and getting up early in the morning and then leaving for work makes the body tired. Due to lack of sleep, the body’s balance gets disturbed and this has a direct impact on blood pressure.
At the same time, in the name of food, junk food, packet food and excess salt start retaining water and fat in the body, which increases the pressure on the veins.
Stress is also a big reason for this. The pressure of studies, job and worries about the future keep the mind under constant stress. When we remain under stress for a long time, hormones are released in the body that shrink the veins. The result is that it takes more force for blood to flow and blood pressure increases. Ayurveda also believes that disturbance of the mind leads to diseases of the body, and high BP is a perfect example of this.
Obesity is also another reason for increasing high blood pressure. Gaining weight at a young age has now become a common thing. Being overweight causes the heart to work harder to pump blood. This extra pressure gradually turns into high blood pressure. Along with this, habits like smoking and alcohol weaken the nerves and unbalance the BP. This risk increases even more in people whose family already has the problem of high BP.
Symptoms of high blood pressure are often not clearly visible, but some signs should not be ignored. Its signs can be feeling heavy in the head as soon as you wake up in the morning, feeling tired without any reason, fog in front of your eyes, nervousness or sometimes bleeding from the nose. If care is not taken in time, this problem can later lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, weak eyesight and mental ability.
If some habits are adopted then high blood pressure can be avoided to a great extent. Include fresh fruits, vegetables, pulses and whole grains in your daily diet. Stay away from too much salt and processed food. To keep the body active, walk and do yoga for at least half an hour every day. Apart from this, get good sleep of 7 to 9 hours daily. If possible, keep distance from mobile phones and screens. It is also important to limit smoking and alcohol consumption.
