New Delhi: Meta owned WhatsApp, which currently serves over three billion active users globally, is reportedly developing a long awaited feature that will allow users to schedule messages. This move is seen as an effort to maintain its competitive edge over rival platforms like Telegram and Signal.
The development was spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest WhatsApp iOS beta v26.7.10.72. Once the feature is rolled out, users will be able to compose a message and set a specific date and time for it to be sent automatically.
This feature has been a frequent request from the user base, as it is already a staple on platforms such as Gmail and X. The scheduling tool will be particularly useful for sending birthday and festival greetings at midnight, timely reminders to colleagues or family members, and important notifications across different time zones.
