Ian Huntley has suffered serious injuries after being attacked in a high-security prison in County Durham today. The Soham murderer was rushed to hospital after the incident, which reportedly left him lying "in a pool of blood".
Huntley was convicted of the murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire, in 2002 and is serving a life sentence with a minimum of 40 years at HMP Frankland in County Durham. The attack is believed to have happened in a prison workshop, and to have been carried out by another inmate with "an iron bar", the Mail reports.
A prisoner in his mid-40s has been identified as a suspect in the attack on Soham murderer Ian Huntley on Thursday morning and remains in detention within HMP Frankland, County Durham, police said. The Press Association said they understand Huntley was left in a pool of blood after the incident.
