Big update of Adani Ports despite Israel conflict, Haifa Port fully operational

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Israel-based Haifa Port, owned by Adani Ports and SEZ Limited (APSEZ), on Sunday confirmed that all the port's assets and infrastructure are completely safe and functioning normally. Tension has increased in the region after the attack on Iran by America and Israel and the death of Ali Khamenei.

The company issued a statement saying that all the employees of Haifa Port are safe and the operation of the port is continuing without any interruption. The Port Authority is continuously monitoring the situation and working in accordance with the instructions of the Israeli Ministry of Transport and Road Safety. The company said that the safety of its employees and continuity of operations are its priority, so that Israel's supply chain and international trade remain stable.

Damage at many places due to attacks

During recent attacks, shipping and airports were targeted in many countries. There were also reports of damage to Dubai International Airport, the famous Burj Al Arab Hotel and Palm Jumeirah Island.

Black smoke was seen rising from the Jabal Ali Port area, where debris from the intercepted missile caught fire at a berth. An employee was injured in a drone attack on Duqm Commercial Port in Oman.

How important is Adani's Haifa Port?

Adani Ports operates a total of 19 ports and terminals, including 15 in India and 4 internationally in Australia, Colombo, Israel and Tanzania. The company had purchased Haifa Port Company in 2022 for $1.13 billion.

In the first quarter of FY 2025, container volume at Haifa Port increased by 25% year-on-year and other cargo increased by 38%, increasing total cargo volume by 29%. This was the port's highest quarterly income and operating EBITDA since the acquisition.

Israel's largest port

Haifa Port, located in northern Israel, is the country's largest port, handling 56% of the country's total cargo in 2021. All types of goods including containers, bulk, liquid cargo and vehicles are handled here. This port with 10 terminals is just 300 meters from downtown Haifa and about 90 kilometers from Tel Aviv and is well connected by rail and road networks. Haifa Port Company operates and maintains 5 terminals here.
