LPG Cylinder Price Hike: Oil companies have increased the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders, due to which the costs of restaurants, hotels and small businesses are expected to increase. Now in the capital Delhi, a 19 kg commercial cylinder will be available for Rs 1768.50, whereas earlier its price was Rs 1740.50. That means consumers will now have to pay Rs 28 more.
The new price of this cylinder in Kolkata has become Rs 1875.50, which was earlier Rs 1844.50. The price in Mumbai has increased from Rs 1692 to Rs 1720.50. Whereas in Chennai the commercial cylinder has increased from Rs 1899.50 to Rs 1929. The rate of increase varies from city to city, but prices have increased in all major metros.
However, domestic consumers have got relief for the time being. There has been no change in the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder. Its price in Delhi remains Rs 853, in Kolkata Rs 879, in Mumbai Rs 852.50 and in Chennai Rs 868.50. This will not put any additional burden on the budget of common families immediately.
LPG prices are decided based on many factors. The most prominent among these is the Import Parity Price (IPP), which depends on the prices of gas in the international market. Apart from this, the dollar-rupee exchange rate, ocean freight, insurance, transportation costs and taxes imposed by states also affect the final price. Since the tax structure and logistics costs are different in every state, LPG cylinder prices also look different in different cities.
